PBCFSI Profile

PBCFSI serves the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation (PBCN) communities of Kinoosao, Southend, Deschambault Lake, Pelican Narrows, Sandy Bay, Amisk Lake, Sturgeon Landing, Kiskachewan and the central office at the Chief Joseph Custer Reserve in the city of Prince Albert.

PBCFSI has become one of the largest First Nation Child & Family Services agencies in Saskatchewan and in Canada.

There are over 200 employees working for PBCFSI, a majority being PBCN members.

Currently PBCFSI has Eight (8) offices located in the communities of Kinoosao, Southend, Deschambault Lake, Pelican Narrows, Sandy Bay, Amisk Lake, Sturgeon Landing and the central office at the Chief Joseph Custer Reserve in the city of Prince Albert, including Kiskachewan.

In addition, PBCFSI has one group home located in Pelican Narrows, two Family Wellness Centres located in Deschambault Lake and Sandy Bay, 3 receiving homes located in Pelican narrows and Southend and; 2 Emergency homes in Pelican Narrows.

Principles

We, the Peter Ballantyne Child and Family Services Inc., are guided by the following Principles in our services to children, youth and families:

To deliver child and family services that are caring and compassionate and based on trust and teamwork

To be accountable to Chief and Council and to the PBCN membership

To maintain an agency that is based on the values and beliefs of the Woodland Cree, generally, and PBCN, specifically

To respect and enhance the dignity and rights of individuals

To provide opportunities for community participation in the development and provision of child and family services

To promote and facilitate individual and community responsibility for their own healing and well-being

To be fiscally responsible

To promote and facilitate the growth and development of physical, emotional, spiritual and social aspects of our children, youth and families
